This mid-century home in Amberly village had outdated and undersized paver patio with a back law area that simply butted up to a honeysuckle line, proving little interest and no privacy during the winter months. The front stoop and steps were awkwardly formed stamped concrete that did not go with the mid century house.

Natural Landscape

The goals of the project were to bring a more natural feel to the landscape and hardscape that aligned with the principles of mid century architecture, while providing privacy in winter months and a beatiful view from the large windows.

The back patio was replaced with a natural tumbled bluestone flagging patio set in a natural form using the edges of the stone to define the form. This idea was carried to the front stoop. Large natural boulders and outcroppings were incorporated into the landscape to help create the feeling that boulders were there before the house.

Natural plantings were added using a loose asymmetric planting structure and colorful pallet to provide interest. A mix of deciduous and evergreen trees were used to provide privacy while still having variety and contrast."
